This is an overdue post about my recent trip to Las Vegas and share all the exciting things I learnt attending a conference in the wedding capital of the globe.
I learnt that it wasn’t the wisest idea to go to a wedding conference at the beginning of my short vacation. As a result, I was exhausted from a non-stop year of weddings and events. I missed all the great social aspects at night so that I could stay awake during the information-packed workshops.
Presenter – Ron Ruth
I learnt that an android phone is no substitute for a DSLR camera – and my busted camera lens will capture blurred images and miss some interesting moments of my trip!
I learnt that Wedding MBA is a digital, techie, business event/entrepreneurs’ conference with some wedding stuff too! But it is not an exhibition of dreamy décor and tablescapes – that’s another show.
I learnt that you could get married in Vegas for US$65 in about 6 minutes. After viewing the “drive-thru wedding chapel” and meeting one the Elvis impersonators who could serenade couples for an extra couple hundred bucks – I was a bit dismayed, is this really what my clients want when they get married??
I learnt anything on wheels can be converted – sorry – pimped out and it is surreal to ride around the strip in Vegas in a converted armoured van.
I learnt that you could have a chauffer who may also be a pole dancer, and that’s ok, because it is Vegas.
I learnt that I will sleep for 2 days before I go to Vegas so that I do not miss the parties – I still cannot fathom that I missed the parties!!
I learnt that you should rent a car if you want to go off the strip in Vegas or that you can roam the desert waiting for a taxi that does not show up and running/limping for the bus to get back to the strip.
So what does this have to do with your wedding? A lot, or maybe nothing at all, depending on who you are. But for those of you who value the fact that I am continually investing into learning more about the art of weddings it should mean that one of the biggest events you plan to host is in safe and capable hands.
So I have to ask –Is there any value for you to hire a certified, experienced event & wedding professional for your wedding day?
That’s what I learnt at Wedding MBA! Re-align and focus our services ONLY to the clients who can emphatically say “Yes” to that question.
